LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
While in other Upper Secondary Level (NMS) programs the fields of reading, writing, oral communication, history of literature, and documentary research are covered, with varying intensity, the IEMS program seeks to develop the corresponding skills gradually, constantly and globally throughout the four courses taught in the first semesters of their Baccalaureate.
And, for this, it subordinates orality (speaking/listening), literature, its history and documentary research, to reading and writing; fields that make up its central objectives.
COURSES
LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE I
The general objective of the first semester is for the student to approach Language, Literature and other types of texts as sources of pleasure and discovery, overcoming possible previous rejections, to begin to appropriate them and begin to develop the specific skills that will mark their work during the remaining three courses.
LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE III
The student will continue to develop their research habits and their reading comprehension, analytical and critical skills, so that they can explain the relationship established between the texts they read and the contexts in which they were produced, as well as the one established between the text, his personal reception and the context in which he lives.
LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE IV
During the fourth semester the student will continue to develop his
reading, writing, oral expression, listening and research skills, through an argumentative text (“essay”) that you will plan and carry out throughout the course, in which you will demonstrate your ability to write clearly, manage information and take advantage of both critical texts and all other argumentative resources at hand so that you can support your own judgments on the topic you have chosen.
